“The Indian Man” Essay Added


We’ll see how long I can keep up this string of daily essay additions. Today I added the essay “The Indian Man.” This essay is about the life-size statue of a Native American man that my Grandpa made.

An excerpt:

Grandpa always had a fascination with frontier American life, in particular with Native Americans. (For him they were always Indians.) His interest, as an outdoors man and artist, was a mixture of curiosity and respect. He would read about them, about how they did things, and how they made things. As an outdoors man he had an interest in how they lived and functioned—their rugged survivalism and closeness with in nature. But his preeminent interest was artistic—he was fascinated with the craft of Native Americans. (Read more.)
